How Notifications Work

ShikshaOS sends WhatsApp messages to parents using MSG91. WhatsApp must be enabled and configured in Notifications → Settings before alerts can be sent.
Notifications are WhatsApp messages sent to the parent’s registered phone number — not push notifications. Parents do not need the ShikshaOS app installed to receive them.

Notification Types

Sending Fee Reminders

  1. Go to Notifications
  2. Click Send Fee Reminders
  3. A message is sent to all parents whose child has a pending balance
The dashboard shows how many students currently have an overdue balance before you send.

Enabling Absent Alerts

Go to Notifications → Settings and enable Auto Absent Alert. When this is on, a WhatsApp message is automatically sent to the parent each time their child is marked absent.

Notification Log

The Log tab shows all sent notifications with:
  • Recipient phone number
  • Template used
  • Status (sent / failed)
  • Date and time

Settings

Go to Notifications → Settings to configure:
WhatsApp messaging requires a MSG91 account and template approval. Contact ShikshaOS support to set this up for your institute.
